Meet the Ouyang Lab

Dr. Zhiming Ouyang, Ph.D.

Dr. Ouyang is an Associate Professor at USF’s Morsani College of Medicine. He obtained his Ph.D. in Comparative and Molecular Biosciences at the University of Minnesota in 2007 and received his Postdoctoral training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas between 2007-2009. He was an Instructor between 2009-2012 and an Assistant Professor between 2012-2017 in the Department of Microbiology at UT Southwestern.

Christina Thompson, MS

Christina is a Biological Research Scientist who joined the lab in January of 2019. They received their Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences in 2018 and a Masters in Medical Sciences with a concentration in Molecular Medicine in 2022.

Sierra George, MS,
Ph.D. candidate

Sierra is a Ph.D. candidate in the Allergy, Immunology, and Infectious disease program. Her current focus of research is on the DNA binding protein BadR and its contributions to Borrelia gene regulation. Pictured is her cockapoo puppy Cooper.

Connor Waldron, BS

Connor is a Research Technician and joined the lab in August of 2021. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2019.

Linh Tran, BS

Linh is a Research Assistant and joined the lab in the summer of 2022. She graduated with her Bachelors in Integrative Animal Biology in 2022.

Luis Perez, MS

Luis is a Research Assistant and joined the lab in February of 2023. He graduated with his Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences in 2019 and his Masters in Medical Sciences with a concentration in Molecular Medicine in 2022.

Suhaas Mandala

Suhaas is an undergraduate Research Assistant and joined the lab in February of 2022. He is currently a sophomore studying Biomedical Sciences.

Alumni

  • Charlotte Mason, MS

    Charlotte was a Research Assistant in the Ouyang lab between February 2018 and February 2020. She received her Bachelors in Animal Sciences in 2015 and her Masters in 2017. She currently works at Moffit Cancer Center as a research associate.
